My little Bookworm

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."--Dr. Seuss

"Having a library of 25 propels a kid 1 year further in highschool/college, and a collection of 500+ leads to an extra 3.2 years of education."--University of Nevada

Yes, she's only ten months old. But already, Addy loves books. As does her mom. But she didn't always. It's been so fun and rewarding to watch as she has progressed from not even being able to sit still, let alone pay attention through even two pages--she would roll/crawl away, or even (when she was really little,) start screaming at me in protest because she was simply NOT interested in doing anything that didn't involve movement--to now patiently listening through even a couple of stories. This is a MAJOR breakthrough for her considering my father used to joke that her name started with A-D-D for a reason:) Travis even showed me just today that if you hand her an open book she "reads to herself" by turning the pages and babbling while totally transfixed. And I think it all started with simple exposure. She has a shelf full of books in her room. And she's always been a super curious one. And at first she just just liked pulling them off one by one and dumping them on the ground-"THUD!" But slowly she began opening them, flipping through pages, seeing pictures of DOGGIES always helped, and now she's hooked. I love it. She's' especially into the lift the flap ones, (it's like playing peek-a-boo.) She's such a smart girl. She makes her momma proud.
