We're merrily on our way,
to Merry old V-A,
for Thanksgiving Holiday!
That was quite the rhyme. betcha didn't know i so talented. So,we're super excited. We're going to visit Travis's daddy, who we love and don't see nearly enough. I love the east coast in the Fall--Trees, trees everywhere, and in every color you can imagine. So beautiful. So these are some of our adventures from when we went 2 years ago, for your enjoyment. And we will have more fun stuff to post when we get back!
First of all, I LOVE john's house. I have a soft spot for old houses, they just have so much grace and character. Everything tells a story. They just don' t build them like they used to--People don't take nearly as much pride in the cracker box houses they build today. And his wife Stephanie is so cute. She mixes art and antiques and bright colors...all those things i love.
I love this picture. its totally the quirky maggie i know and love.

The painting above the bathtub:) who doesn't enjoy a little culture during bathtime? too fun.
The kitchen with the aqua-green cabinets:) I love it, this is totally something I would do... And i love the super sweet industrial stove, i'll definitely have to get one of those someday. But, on second thought, then i'd have to cook, and i don't know if that's a commitment i can make...
This is the Bermuda Room, and it's my personal Favorite. Who wouldn't love an Aqua Room with Gorgeous paintings that make you feel like you're on an exotic beach? It's very soothing... then again i'm a sucker for anything aqua.
This room is affectionately referred to as "The Man Room"--Every man needs one. Complete with XBox, Plasma HD TV, and of course, a secret outhouse hidden behind the wall. I'll have to get a picture of that this time--but then it wouldn't be a secret anymore, would it?? :)
Travis enjoying the intense, oozing testosterone of the Man Room. I can't stay in there too long, i start to grow chest hair.
Our dog away from our dog, and Travis's favorite little brother Duke--Affectionately called "Dukey," which is, of course, another word for poo:) We're so excited to see him, but don't tell Oscar, he might get jealous!
The House Next Door that I would instantly buy if i weren't a poor college kid. Soo Amazingly Cool. I drool a little while walking around it:)

One of the things that surprised me most when I moved to VA was how it like the Civil War had never ended, when before i lived there, i hadn't even given it much thought. Loss or not, they are still proud as can be to be called southerners. So seeing this made me crack a smile---If you can't read it, it says, "Our Confederate Heroes" and on the back, "Awaiting The Reveille." I guess it's one of those things you would of had to experience for yourself, but i find it endearing and even a little comical. But please don't think ill of me. I have a great deal of respect for any of our soldiers who are willing to die to protect their way of life......... any who, sorry, got carried away:)

Duke was bein a total puppy. He kept just plopping down where ever and whenever he felt like it. I think we ended up carrying or dragging him the whole day.
Lucy checkin out the cool headstones. I wonder what a cemetery smells like to a dog? Wish i could ask her:)

A Boy and his Daddy... aw, so sweet
I've always found cemeteries intriguing. I guess i was exposed to them from a young age. And the ones back east are especially cool because they're so intricate, and there's so much history. The old churches in the graveyard, the mausoleums, the statues, the amount of detail some people have on their headstone, and even the old fashioned way they're worded is just so interesting. There's a massive cemetery just a stones throw from john's house, so we took the doggies on a daytrip:)
This church supposedly has more tiffany glass than any other building in the U.S.-and to think its just a few blocks away from John dad's house is pretty cool. We went to check it out on Sunday afternoon before we left and it was closed...What kind of church is CLOSED on a SUNDAY?? strange, very strange.

The detail in these statues is just breathtaking --the pictures don't nearly do them justice. And to think that somebody is talented enough to do it by hand is just so amazing. I want a sweet statue for my headstone....
K, Super crappy picture job, but this is a really cool old fashioned movie theater in downtown Richmond where before the movie starts, an old man on a piano comes up out of the floor and does a little piano pre show for you. How cool is that?? they just don't do stuff like that anymore, especially around here.
